Primarily because of awards won in high school and college Michael King earned numerous scholarships. His work has hung in the museum of New Mexico and in traveling shows both in the United States and in Europe. He taught school and had a studio/gallery before joining the air force during the Vietnam war. After serving as an officer in the air force, Michael and his family moved to Hawaii. In Hawaii he had his work in a gallery, taught school and became a textile designer. Moving back to the mainland he became an art therapist for asthmatic children in a residential treatment program. He also worked in retail sales, owned a gift shop and continued his studies. Working as a chef and manager of a retirement home prepared him for a job with a high end retirement community before he retired. Michael continued expressing himself through art during all phases of his life. The current work at Grace Gallery evolved into what he calls wall sculptures.
